Job Description:

Reporting into the Head of Technical, the purpose of the Technical Prep Manager role is to prepare, process, service and maintain all technical equipment.  The role-holder will work closely with technicians and Project Managers to ensure their requirements are met and delivered to an excellent standard, and that all necessary equipment is available for jobs in a timely manner. Additionally, the role-holder will oversee the Racks Specialists and train junior members of the team.

Responsibilities:

As the role holder, you will be required to undertake the following tasks;

Technical Prep Manager specific

  • Line management and training of Racks specialists 

  • Ensure that all racks are completed, configured and tested by the specified date

  • Manage the computer re-imaging system on a day to day basis

  • Manage firmware updates for key equipment

  • Review project schematics and suggest relevant changes 

  • Ensure technical paperwork is updated with changes made during the build of a project 

  • Maintain regular contact with the Warehouse Manager to ensure any changes to projects are communicated effectively 

  • Create and maintain equipment preparation procedures and department SOP’s

Racks Support

  • Assembly/disassembly of custom server/LED/video processing racks

  • Rack building of equipment and basic wiring 

  • Supporting shows during preparation 

  • Deprepping / resetting equipment returning from jobs

  • Maintaining stock levels of consumable rack build items 

  • Ensure that all prep procedures are up to date and easy to understand

Warehouse Support

  • The preparation of equipment to specification including the testing, labelling, and cleaning of equipment; identifying faults; looking for improvements/alternative solutions; notifying team members of any areas of concern 

  • Returning equipment to designated storage area after an event; identifying faulty items and booking into maintenance

  • Ensuring cleanliness of Technical Warehouse area is maintained to the Universal Pixels high standard

  • Actively using the company’s rental software system (IntelliEvent) to maintain accurate data

  • Carry out PAT testing in line with company schedules

  • Ensure accurate stock levels are maintained on rental software 

  • Maintain service levels of fixed assets within the department

  • Ensure safe working practices & suitably report issues and/or breaches

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in managing and configuring technical video and network equipment is advantageous 

  • A good understanding of computer networks

  • A good understanding of video signals 

  • Competent in cable termination including BNC, RJ45, power connectors

  • Competent in soldering to a basic level

  • A proactive, self-starter who has a strong degree of logic and a methodical approach 

  • You will enjoy working independently and also have a great ‘team-player’ attitude 

  • Supervisory/ management experience preferred
