At the start of 2018, Sony Music reissued the original 1978 The War of the Worlds soundtrack - based on HG Wells’ Victorian science fiction novel - in a double 12-inch vinyl album. It reached No.1 in the vinyl chart, adding to the 15 million records already sold.
Asked to enter the species clashing planet by Production Manager Steve Nolan of Chromatic Productions, UP delivered the tour’s most advanced video package yet.
The production is constructed around a three-tonne 35ft tall Martian Fighting Machine, which fires real flames against the backdrop of an 80ft-wide animation wall.
The vital video backdrop hosted two hours of cutting-edge CGI-enhanced visual content. The tour utilised Epson EB-L25000U 25K Laser Projectors, L-R IMAG screens, Hologram DSC Gauze Screen, disguise 2x4 media servers and Hitachi SK-HD1200 camera channels with Canon XJ76 lenses, plus an UP 3G block camera UP’s video crew were led by Robyn Tearle.
